From The Crazy Bookworm ~ “The entire character cast is great, you'll find yourself falling in love with not just Roxanne and Frank but with all the characters.”

From Readers Favorite Book Reviews ~ “Ms. Edwards takes the reader back to the 1980's, to a world of starving musicians, sex and drugs. She portrays the scene quite well.”

Excerpt:Crazy for You:
That evening, Roxanne sat back and watched Rich and Glen give all the local groupies the cold shoulder. The hometown girls seethed as the two band members, who’d been oh-so-friendly yesterday, entered the club tonight sporting these unknown women on their arms. None of the slighted fans tried to hide their anger.

Roxanne couldn’t understand how Candy and Glenna, especially Glenna, could stand to witness this diversion as it played out between the guys in the band and the local girls. The whole thing proved unsettling for Roxanne. “Let’s go out and burn one.” Her suggestion came abruptly.

“Okay.” Candy popped up from her chair and grabbed her purse.

The girls headed outside, and made themselves comfortable in the back of Roxanne’s van.

Glenna initiated the ritual by pulling a joint out and firing it up. “Did you see all those girls giving me the evil eye when I walked in on Glen’s arm?” she asked with an amusing laugh and passed the joint to Roxanne. Glenna didn’t seem to care, one way or another, about what she obviously knew.

“No shit.” Candy let out a sharp laugh. “I caught a few of those myself.”
Roxanne choked on the smoke and coughed. “I can’t believe you two think that’s funny.” She handed the joint to Candy.

“Roxie…” Glenna said in a discerning tone, “I’m not blind to the fact of what goes on when I’m not around. But I also know…” She gave Roxanne one of those looks that said she wasn’t worried, and in a controlled voice, she said, “when push comes to shove…” She shrugged with a measure of confidence. “I come first.”

“And it doesn’t bother you?” Roxanne asked, doubtful.

Candy passed the joint to Glenna, saying nothing, just following the conversation with an entertaining grin edging up the corners of her mouth.

“Not as long as Glen doesn’t flaunt it in my face,” Glenna said. “You must understand.” She stopped long enough to take a hit off the joint. “The groupies, they got one thing on their minds.” She stopped again, holding her breath this time. An act that allowed the capabilities of the drug to take her away. “They want to screw a musician. Any musician.” Slowly, Glenna blew the smoke out in a long, lingering trail. “They put it right there in their faces. And believe me, a stiff dick has no conscience.” There was no doubt in her tone, no fear in her words. She handed the joint to Roxanne. “And I’m not going to let some little two-bit slut destroy my marriage,” she added, in an almost vindictive tone.

Roxanne toked on the joint and a disturbing thought crossed her mind. Glenna not only knew about it—she accepted her husband’s infidelity. Anxiety colored Roxanne’s thoughts with visions of what Frank might be doing out on the road if she wasn’t there. She tried to expel the ugly thoughts invading her head, right along with the smoke as she exhaled and handed the joint to Candy.

“You got a clip?” Roxanne said to Candy.

“Yeah.” Candy pulled a roach-clip from her purse and clamped it onto the joint.
Glenna picked up on Roxanne’s anxiety. “I’m not saying that’s what Frank would do.” She had to get that notion out of Roxanne’s head. Otherwise, Frank would hit the roof. “So don’t go judging him by my husband’s actions.”

Glenna prayed Roxanne had nothing but pure thoughts of Frank. If not, there would be hell to pay. Frank would see to that.

Crazy For You Excerpt:
Frank hovered behind Jameson, like a wildcat guarding his prey, as the butler answered the ringing doorbell.
“Good afternoon, Dr. Sterling.” Jameson’s casual greeting told Frank this man had been there before.
“Roxanne is expecting me.” Jerry ignored Frank as he passed through the foyer and headed toward the stairs.
“Wait a minute.” Frank followed him. “She doesn’t need a doctor. She’s not sick.”
Jerry stopped at the bottom of the stairs and turned to Frank. “First of all…I’m not that kind of doctor. Secondly, Roxanne is my patient and I would thank you not to interfere.” Saying what he had to say, Jerry headed up the stairs.
“What the hell kind of doctor are you then?” Frank chased after him.
Jerry stopped again, halfway up the stairs this time. Glancing over his shoulder, he glared at Frank. “If it’s any of your business…I’m a psychiatrist,” he said, annoyed.
“She doesn’t need a shrink.”
Jerry bit back his temper. “Let me tell you something about Roxanne Simon…I’ve been treating her for more than five years. She suffers from a mental disorder called manic-depressive psychosis.”

Secondary Targets Excerpt:
The early morning view from the table on the terrace at Cherilyn’s beachfront home hypnotized Eric, but he fought its magnetic power. A faint scent of salt drifted through the sea air and the water was amazingly calm, except right up along the shoreline where it rolled lazily in and out. Eric pulled his gaze away and stared at the mocha-black coffee steaming in his mug, the muddy liquid fueled his imagination.
If the General had belonged to some covert organization, not unlike the one Cherilyn professed to be a member of, that would explain a lot of the man’s secrecy just prior to his death.
Maybe the General’s colleagues had wanted something he wasn’t willing to relinquish. But what? What could the General have had that would’ve caused his associates to put a bullet in his head?
Was it incriminating evidence? Eric had no doubt that just such a thing was going to be found at the end of the trail, wherever that might be. But he didn’t believe for a second that it had caused the General’s death.
The man he’d known, had served under, was much too loyal to build a case against his colleagues without a good reason. Eric didn’t know what bugged him more. The notion that the General would be mixed up in a mess like this in the first place. Or, that Eric couldn’t figure out what would make his former commanding officer turn on his own kind. As far as he could see, there was only one thing that would induce the General to do that and she was sitting an arm’s length away. Grace.

This review is from: The Crimson-Eyed Dragon (Kindle Edition)
When I started reading The Crimson Eyed Dragon, I frankly wasn't sure what to expect. However, from almost the beginning the story pulled me in and I could easily picture the capers of these teenagers. I feel that it is so well-written, that readers of almost any age will enjoy this story. The author did a great job of 'tying up' all lose ends and made the reader feel good with all the various twists and turns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun little mystery.January 4, 2011
This review is from: The Crimson-Eyed Dragon (Kindle Edition)

My first read for 2011. I had the honor of hosting this book for Kindle Kisses a while back, so I thought I better go ahead and read it myself. So glad I did. This was a really fun book. It kind of reminded me of The Hardy Boys or Encyclopedia Brown, with a fun mystery, and a cast of curious young adults. The plot was well thought out and the whole book was entertaining. I think it would be a great book for all ages. I'm interested in seeing if Ms. Trink decides to turn this into a series. I think it would do really well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 5 Star BookJanuary 2, 2011

Jennifer L. - This review is from: The Crimson-Eyed Dragon (Kindle Edition)
I found this book on my Kindle. Which I love...I also loved this book. It reminded me of the movie "The Goonies". All I can say is move over Goonies!! Here comes "The Crimson-Eyed Dragon" by D.M. Trink. If you loved the movie "Goonies" you will fall in love with this book. A group of teenagers trying to solve a mystery. A FIVE STAR BOOK!!

Author Bio:

Author Delyse Trink grew up in Greenfield Park,Quebec where she got her CEGEP degree in Economics. She later moved to Ontario, Canada and received her degree in X-ray Technology in which field she worked at for many years. She enjoys travelling, gardening and reading.

Her love of reading romance novels inspired her to write her first romance novel
Wrapped in a Rainbow.

She has received an Editor's Choice Award for an anthology submission.

Her most recent release
The Crimson-Eyed Dragon is her version of a modern-day Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew type of story. She next hopes to write a mystery/suspense novel based on her experience working in the medical field.

What the author says about The Crimson-Eyed Dragon:

I started writing this novel when my own son was the same age as the boys in the book. Having raised him and helped to raise my three stepsons, I am very familiar with teenagers and their actions. (At least those in my household!) Teens rely on their cell phones and text messaging so much these days to keep in touch that I used it as an integral part of my plot.
I think we need more books today like those we used to read, books that are about ordinary teens who are respectful and intelligent, but who are also curious, adventurous and eager to solve a mystery.

Chapter One Excerpt:

Unimaginable fear tore through his body and he wondered if his life would be cut short at sixteen. Could a teenager have a heart attack? Not just pounding or racing but his heart was erratically jumping, and thumping to be released from the confines of his chest. Deep regret filled Jared as he looked around at his friends and recalled the events he had initiated to lead them to their imminent demise.

It was a dragon figurine with red eyes and wings spread out for flight. Jared was entranced, dragons ranked right up there with his interests in sword and sorcery. The statue was about a foot high and maybe two feet across in width but it appeared solid and heavy so Jared took great care picking it up to examine it more closely. It was fascinating to Jared with its intricate etchings and mottled appearance. The silver was blackened in its deep grooves but that made it all the more beautiful. The eyes glowed like precious jewels and the dragon’s features looked majestic. As Jared carefully turned the statue over to examine its underside one of the eyes fell out. Jared’s reflexes were quick and he managed to catch it before it hit the ground. He looked around quickly to see if anyone had noticed his predicament but everyone in the shop was otherwise engaged.
An hour or so later Jared noticed that the sun had changed its angle and was now creating an eye-squinting glare on his computer screen. As he got up to shut his blinds, he noticed the way the sunlight was reflecting off the dragon statue’s crimson eye, causing it to shimmer and gleam.
“Cool,” murmured Jared as he leaned closer to examine it.
Also brightly illuminated by the powerful sunshine was the gaping hole from the other eye socket. Jared was fascinated to discover something deep within the socket that was now visible. It looked to be a raised button. Jared searched frantically on his desk for something small enough to reach into the tapered opening. He tried a pencil but it did not fit the narrow shape. Suddenly inspired, he ran down to the garage to his dad’s tool workbench.
“There has to be something here,” Jared thought to himself, rifling through items.
“Aha! A mini screwdriver set.” Jared grabbed it up and raced back upstairs.
He tried the smallest one first. Success! It seemed to hit the end.
Jared carefully applied pressure and with a loud creak, the dragon’s left wing dropped.
“Oh darn!” he shouted. “I’ve broken it!”
Annoyed with himself, Jared carefully hoisted the dragon to see what damage he had caused.

VEGAS, BABY Excerpt:
Rio dressed quickly into tan slacks and a matching front-buttoning blouse. Slipping her feet into a pair of Earth Shoes at the foot of the bed, her cell phone jingled inside the pocket of her soiled pants. She grabbed her slacks and fished out her phone.
Digger.
Odd for her to be calling. Odd and scary. She only called during work hours when there were signs of impending trouble.
“Dig, talk to me. What’s up?”
“You’re not going to like it.” There was an edge to her voice. One that told Rio she was worried.
“Just give it to me straight.”
“The tea leaves are against you.”
“What?”
Oh, boy. Here we go again. Rio had a hard time acknowledging the validity of such things, but so far that hadn’t had any effect on Digger’s prediction accuracy.
“For three days in a row, I’ve been seeing the same thing.” She dropped the bomb and then stopped.
Why did she do that? She knew it annoyed Rio.
“On track, Dig. Let’s stay on track.”
“You know I’m not fond of that,” she said. “Especially when it’s this bad.”
“How bad is bad?”
“I’m seeing two problems for you.”
“Two?” Rio uttered the word weaker than she’d anticipated.
“Someone is watching you.”
“Am I in danger?”
“They’re watching your every move.” The silence on the line made the seconds lag like eons. “I don’t know who and I don’t know why, but their focus on you is bordering on creepy.”
She gave the anonymous letter some much needed attention. Retrieving it from her desk drawer at work and scrutinizing it further moved up to the top of her to-do list.
“You mean like stalker-y kind of creepy?” Rio felt for the edge of the bed and eased down.
“Yes, so be careful.” There it was again, that eerie quiet on the line. “You know how easy it is for the stalker personality to go from fantasy to anger.”
“Yes.” That was easy for a lot of people, not just those with stalker tendencies. “What else?” Rio hadn’t forgotten that she’d said two things. Given the facts of the first, the second was weighing heavy like a large boulder.
“Someone wants to discredit you.”
Rio’s mind jammed with a chaotic surge of information. Nervous anxiety hammered her heart with a good workout. “Can you be a little more specific?”
“You’re working with someone who is not what they seem,” she said. “A mole.”
“A mole?” Shock and worry rippled through her like a flag waving in the wind. “Can you see their purpose or who they’re working for?”
“I don’t think their initial intent was directed at you, but it seems to be turning in your path lately.”
A puffing sound echoed across the wire and Rio knew Digger was lighting candles. For once, she hoped they worked.
“Is it Atkins?” A low strained voice gave way to anxiety. Rio was beginning to think the Las Vegas mob boss was going to be a source of irritation for years to come.
“It’s possible, but I can’t be sure.”
“I can. That’s just like Atkins to play these games. Discredit me so he can get an acquittal.”
“I can’t be sure. Don’t discard your other suspicions so easily.”
“Well, it may not be Atkins directly.” Rio pushed off the bed. “But he sure would benefit if someone succeeds in ruining my rep as a Fed, now wouldn’t he?” It wasn’t really a question and Rio knew Digger understood that.
“Rio...” Her voice trailed off into a tone of uncertainty. “Whatever’s going on, I can’t help but feel that both issues are tied together.”
Panic spilled shivers up her body. If Atkins had planted a spy in the department and was behind her stalking, he was much more powerful than she’d imagined.
“Dig, can you meet me for lunch tomorrow?”
“Sure. Want me to drop by the federal building around one?”
“That sounds great.” That’s what Rio liked about Digger, she never had to spell it out for her. Maybe she could pick up on the trickery going on inside the department tomorrow and nobody would be the wiser. It would be disguised as a casual lunch date between friends.
Rio eased the phone shut and slipped it inside her pants’ pocket. If Digger was right, this was bad.
Who was she kidding, Digger was always right. This was no time to start doubting a woman who’d been nicknamed for her ability to “dig” into her powers of clairvoyancy and predict nothing but accurate prophecies. Not once had Digger been wrong in all the years Rio had known her—since junior high.
Fear knotted apprehension inside Rio’s gut. Sheer resilience moved her toward the door. If somebody was out to get her, was the note she found on her desk real? Did that letter have anything to do with the spy inside the department?
Suddenly, nothing about her world felt safe.
Opening the door, she heard Eddie’s voice, soft and low. Instinct and uneasiness urged her to stop and listen.
“I don’t know,” Eddie was saying. “I think I can salvage it, but you need to make sure the obstacle is removed.”
Obstacle? What obstacle? And what exactly did Eddie think he could salvage?
