Rise of the Planet of the Apes (originally titled Rise of the Apes) is an upcoming 2011 American science fiction film. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt. It is a reboot/prequel of the Planet of the Apes series that will act as a foundation with an origin story for a new film series. Originally slated for a June 2011 release, it will be released in theaters on August 5, 2011.
