Part of the problem is the employers do not have a long term plan for their companies. They are always on look out for a fast buck. If employee satisfaction and client satisfaction are more, the company has better chance of growing. Typically when the client is satisfied, the company gets more projects and this way the set-up costs like relocation, travel expenses come down. Companies can not break the law just because they are not able to make a profit.

You may get your green card with out giving a new set of finger prints. Sometimes, you will get the green card first and then they ask you to give the finger prints if necessary.
In my case, I didn't have to give FP for receiving the physical cards.
How long did it take for you to get the card after the case was approved? Also when your case was approved did the status change to Card production ordered immediately or was there a gap between approved status and card production ordered status?

1. Yes. Most countries need 6 months validity on passport from the date of entry. Some countries are exempt from this rule.

3. Not necessarily. But be prepared to answer questions. If you are unable to prove your intention to be permanently residing in US, upon US GC, that can be an issue.
Basically you have to claim that you have proper intentions now, and at the time of applications of canadian PR and US GC. Also you have to claim that you plan to reside in US permanently if you receive US GC.

We've all heard about the skilled immigrant co-founders of Yahoo, Google, Ebay, and others.....but Youtube, the revolutionary internet-video sharing service, which was this week acquired by Google for $1.65 Billion, was also foudned by skilled immigrants- actually the son of skilled immigrants who probably came on H-1B visas the US- both are research scientists in Minnesota. These typify the H1B and EB immigrants.....if only our energies were not sapped by this frustrating Green Card process:-):mad:

On Monday, still early in his studies for the fall term, he got lucky again. This time he may have hit the Internet equivalent of the multistate PowerBall.
Mr. Karim is the third of the three founders of the video site YouTube, which Google has agreed to buy for $1.65 billion. He was present at YouTube’s creation, contributing some crucial ideas about a Web site where users could share video. But academia had more allure than the details of turning that idea into a business.
So while his partners Chad Hurley and Steven Chen built the company and went on to become Internet and media celebrities, he quietly went back to class, working toward a degree in computer science.
Mr. Karim, who is 27, became visibly uncomfortable when the subject turned to money, and he would not say what he stands to make when Google’s purchase of YouTube is completed. He said only that he is one of the company’s largest individual shareholders, though he owns less of the company than his two partners, whose stakes in the company are likely to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, according to some estimates. The deal was so enormous, he says, that his share was still plenty big.
“The sheer size of the acquisition almost makes the details irrelevant,” Mr. Karim said.
On Wednesday, during a walk across campus and a visit to his dorm room and the computer sciences building where he takes classes, Mr. Karim described himself as a nerd who gets excited about learning. Philanthropy may have some appeal, down the road. But mostly he just wants to be a professor. He said he simply hopes to follow in the footsteps of other Stanford academics who struck it rich in Silicon Valley and went back to teaching.
“There’s a few billionaires in that building,” he said, standing in front of the William Gates Computer Science Building. But his chosen path will not preclude another stint at a start-up. “If I see another opportunity like YouTube, I can always do that,” he said.

I just read about someone in San Fernando who killed his family and himself because he didn't have a job.
Please reach out to your friends in times of difficulty....the world is not going to end if you don't have a job OR if you there are delays in getting your GC..the world is a wonderful place and still full of opportunity - to add value, to help others etc...you may need to reach out to your friends for help to find your calling or the next opportunity....please don't be desperate....and please ask for help. we all have so many things to be happy and thankful for...

Good. Just make sure the lawyers are eligible to practice employment law in the state you have been sued in. Stay cool and just make sure this gets resolved ASAP. Attorney and law suits are very expensive and can run into several thousand dollars if you drag it longer. Save the trouble, hire an attorney with clear mandate to negotiate with your employer's attorney. Courts also provide an arbitration process. Tell your attorney that you don't have money and what will be the cheapest and fastest way to resolve this. See where it goes.

I do NOT know how this is feasible, but several applicants who are unable to travel to their home countries due to long consular wait times, fear of retribution, etc., go through a attorney to get the stamping done in Canada.
WHO: There are quite a few who specialize only in consular representation. And, they're VERY successful at this. They travel to Canada, ask you to be present at a rendezvous and then you go together for the interview. But it costs you quite a packet $$$!!!!

Visa number is allocation depending on country of birth. Country of citizenship doesn't matter. So if your country of birth is one of the retrogressed countries then you have to wait for long time to get a I-485 visa number.
My husband was born in Switzerland, I was born in China. I borrowed my husband's nationality to submit 485 and 140 concurrently. from the replies above, my case should follow Switzerland, not China. Is that correct? Thanks.
